RUTH Langsford, 60, is celebrating being another step toward to being reunited with her mum again after getting the coronavirus vaccine.

The TV presenter praised medics for the “painless” experience as she told fans she’d been called in for the jab earlier than she thought.

She even feared it could have been a hoax message after the unexpected invitation.

Sharing a picture of herself wearing a T-shirt with “love” written on the front as she got vaccinated, Ruth wrote on Instagram: “JUST HAD MY VACCINE!! Feel SO grateful.

“Thought it was a scam message at first as I wasn’t expecting to be called until March!

“Thank you everybody, staff & volunteers, at the vaccination centre in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey…a quick, well organised and very friendly experience.

Ruth’s mum Joan hasn’t left her care home since March

“The jab took seconds and was painless.

“Thank you @stephanieshervington for being so lovely….you & your colleagues are doing an amazing job.

“Another step forward to being able to see my Mum again I hope. Thank you @nhsengland@astrazeneca@oxford_uni#covid#vaccine.”

Ruth hasn’t cuddled her mum – who lives in a care home – since March last year.

She broke down in tears on Loose Women this month as she shared her heartache at not being able to visit her.

Discussing I’m A Celeb’s Ruthie Henshall’s call for it to be made illegal for care homes to ban visits amid the coronavirus pandemic, Ruth shared: “This is very close to my heart as my mum has not been out of her care home since March.”

She continued: “The biggest concern for lots of people is if they die and you haven’t actually held them.

“I’ve seen my mum through a window, I phone her all the time but I haven’t physically touched her.”

However, she went on to insist that she “absolutely understands” why care homes have the ban in place, but shared her hope that it could change once her mum is fully vaccinated.
