EAMONN Holmes was slammed by This Morning viewers as they accused him of ‘fat-shaming’ his wife Ruth Langsford.

They took to Twitter to air their disbelief at the host’s on-air joke to his wife.

Eamonn risked the wrath of viewers with his joke about Ruth’s weight.

Eamonn, 61, and Ruth, 60, were playing a game of “It’s Behind You.”

The picture was of Kate Middleton and the viewer gave the clue: “She’s very thin.”

Eamonn said: “She’s very thin…. well it’s not you darling.”

Ruth apparently brushed off his comment and continued to talk to the caller.

Eamonn was having a bit of banter

But Eamonn’s joke backfired and fans of the show laid into him.

One wrote: “So apparently it’s OK for Eamonn Holmes to say that Ruth is fat or should look more like a model because it’s ‘a joke.”

A second stunned viewer said:”Did Eamonn just call Ruth fat?”

A third added: “That was rather unnecessary to call Ruth fat there Eamonn.”

Fans couldn’t believe it

Meanwhile This Morning fans were astonished by Ruth’s age today as she opened up about having the coronavirus vaccine.

The star, back on the show alongside husband Eamonn Holmes for the first time since they were axed from Fridays, explained she is 61 next month.

She said she was shocked to be invited to receive the vaccine, believing she was too young to be offered it now.

Ruth told viewers: “I’m 61 – I thought ‘This is too early.’ I called my surgery and they say no, no that’s absolutely right.
