CORONATION Street’s Katie McGlynn admitted she picked the wrong time to get killed off the soap and is worried she’ll never work again.
The actress, 27, is taking part in Stand Up & Deliver, which recruits several celebrities to do a stand up routine after being trained by actual comedians.
Katie – who is partnered with comedian Zoe Lyons – has joked on the show about how quitting Coronation Street before the pandemic was the worst timing possible.
The actress played Sinead Tinker on the soap and died from cervical cancer in emotional scenes in December 2019, just before the pandemic the following year.
The Sun can exclusively reveal she says in the set: “For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Katie, I’m 27 and I’m a recovering actress. You probably know me best as Sinead Tinker from Coronation Street.
“My character died from cervical cancer, which of course is very tragic for such a young person. As it meant there’s absolutely no b****** way I can be written back into the show.

“I probably couldn’t have picked a better time to be killed off in a soap than in the midst of a global f***ing pandemic. When the government was encouraging people to work from home, I thought, ‘How is a Rochdale thespian supposed to do that?’.
“So I got creative and ordered Deliveroo four times a week, just for an audience. So I’d open the door, he’d be stood there with my chicken chow mien and I’d be like, “Get out of my pub!” Wrong soap. The delivery man didn’t clap once.”
Speaking to The Sun about the upcoming show, Katie said: “I’m completely out of my depth! Because of Covid I’ve been in my flat for months, so to get on stage and try to make people laugh, I’m out of my depth! I hope I don’t s*** myself!

“I’ve been enjoying it, but I’m absolutely nervous. I think I’ve definitely got funny bones; I always try to find a funny side of things. But it’s completely different from anything I’ve ever done. So I just hope people laugh.”
When asked why she’s doing the show, Katie responded: “It’s the link to Stand Up To Cancer which I’m really interested in. I’ve always wanted to be a part of the Stand Up To Cancer shows. This came around and I thought, ‘well, it’ll be a bit of fun and it’s a challenge’.
“I think you’ve got to challenge yourself and I thought if I absolutely die on stage, at least I can say I gave it a go! I’m hoping that because we are all doing it for charity, we’ll get a bit of leeway.
“Especially if we’re not that funny because we’re just trying our best and we really don’t know what we’re doing. We’re just kind of making it up – well I am!”
